Italian bodybuilder, boxer and actor Franco Columbu, one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s closest friends, has died at age 78.
Columbu died in a hospital in his native Sardinia on Friday afternoon after becoming ill while he was swimming in the sea.

Кримінальне провадження стосовно колишнього віцеспікера Верховної Ради Ігоря Калєтніка закрили законно, заявила речниця ексгенпрокурора Юрія Луценка Лариса Сарган у Facebook.
«Трошки деталей. Стаття Кримінального кодексу, яку 5,5 (!) років [голова Управління спеціальних розслідувань ГПУ Сергій] Горбатюк інкримінував Калєтніку, – давно декриміналізована. По справі є рішення судів, в яких чітко вказано на відсутність складу злочину. У цій же справі було відмовлено у проведенні заочного розслідування через відсутність складу злочину, є рішення суду про необхідність закриття справи», – написала Сарган.
Вона додала, що 20 кримінальних проваджень за підслідністю передані до Державного бюро розслідувань, Національної поліції та Служби безпеки України.
«Провадження не мають стосунку ні до справ Майдану, ні до колишніх високопосадовців. Це, наприклад, справи викрадення цукру, забудов Києва тощо передані за підслідністю», – заявила Сарган.
29 серпня Верховна Рада звільнила Юрія Луценка і призначила генеральним прокурором Руслана Рябошапку.
Увечері 30 серпня Управління спеціальних розслідувань ГПУ повідомило, що Луценко перед звільненням призначив головного військового прокурора Анатолія Матіоса «куруючим заступником» УСР і змінив орган досудового розслідування у 20 кримінальних провадженнях.
В управлінні додали, що заступник генерального прокурора Сергій Кізь закрив провадження стосовно першого заступника голови Верховної Ради Ігоря Калєтніка у 2012-2014 роках у справі про організацію голосування за «диктаторські закони» 16 січня 2014 року.

Польща солідарна з Україною в питанні російського газопроводу «Північний потік-2», заявив президент України Володимир Зеленський під час спільної пресконференції з президентом Польщі Анджеєм Дудою у Варшаві.
«Ми говоримо з Польщею єдиним голосом: «Північний потік-2» є неприйнятним і несе загрози для всієї Європи. Водночас ми виступаємо за диверсифікацію джерел енергопостачання, а також енергетичну співпрацю у трикутнику Польща – США – Україна», – сказав Зеленський.
Сам Дуда наголосив, що політика санкцій проти Росії повинна бути продовжена.
«Україна мусить повернути свою територіальну цілісність, яку мала до 2014 року. Ми називаємо речі своїми іменами: сьогодні територія України окупована. Крим, а також Луганська та Донецька області мають повернутися до повного контролю України. Наша позиція в цьому контексті щодо Росії однозначна: ми цього не приймаємо, ми вважаємо, що політика санкцій повинна бути продовжена», – заявив Дуда.

Проєкт російського газового монополіста «Газпрому» «Північний потік-2» має доставляти газ із Росії до Німеччини дном Балтійського моря.
Німеччина, компанії з якої беруть фінансову участь у проекті постачання газу до Європи з Росії в обхід транзитних можливостей України, підтримує його і на державному рівні, називаючи «суто комерційним», хоча Берлін заявляє про необхідність зберегти транзит російського газу і через Україну.
Україна, як і низка країн Євросоюзу, переважно східноєвропейських, балтійських і скандинавських, а також США виступають проти цього проекту. Вони наголошують, що проект суто політичний, бо збільшує залежність Європи від російського газу, і економічно не обґрунтований. Таку позицію підтримує і Європейська комісія.
У червні президент США Дональд Трамп під час свого візиту до Польщі розкритикував Німеччину через співробітництво з Росією в межах будівництва газопроводу. Він зазначив, що альтернативою для Берліна може стати скраплений газ зі Сполучених Штатів.

Хакери взламали акаунт виконавчого директора соціальної мережі Twitter Джека Дорсі. Після цього в нього на сторінці з’явилися расистські й вульгарні дописи.
В одному із твітів стверджувалося, що нацистський лідер Адольф Гітлер був незайманим. В інших були образи на адресу темношкірих і євреїв. У деяких із твітів був хештег #ChucklingSquad («Хихотливий загін»). Саме таку назву має одна з хакерських груп.
Компанія спочатку повідомила, що здійснює розслідування інциденту. Згодом у Twitter розповіли, що акаунт взламали через проблеми системи безпеки мобільного оператора, чиїми послугами користується Дорсі.
На Дорсі підписані понад чотири мільйони користувачів Twitter.

2 вересня відбудеться зустріч радників лідерів «нормандської четвірки», повідомив 30 серпня помічник президента Росії Юрій Ушаков.
«Ця інформація офіційно підтверджена: 2 вересня в Берліні відбудеться черговий раунд консультацій за участі дипломатичних радників. Від нас – [помічник президента Росії Владислав] Сурков», – розповів Ушаков.
Останніми тижнями точаться розмови про те, що після тривалої перерви може вже ближчим часом відбутися новий саміт у «нормандському» форматі, з участю керівників України, Франції, Німеччини і Росії. Із закликами провести такий саміт виступає президент України Володимир Зеленський. Він також пропонував розширити коло учасників за рахунок керівників Великої Британії і США, але ця пропозиція наразі не знайшла підтримки.
26 серпня президент Франції Емманюел Макрон заявив, що наступні переговори у «нормандському форматі» відбудуться у вересні, однак дати не назвав.

Народний депутат від «Слуги народу» та засновник приватної клініки «Борис» Михайло Радуцький замінить новопризначену голову Міністерства охорони здоров’я Зоряну Скалецьку, повідомив голова фракції «Слуги народу» Давид Арахамія в ефірі телеканалу ZIK 30 серпня.
«Ситуація з пані Зоряною така. Вона планувалася на першого заступника міністра охорони здоров’я. На міністра планувався сам пан Радуцький. Але йому треба десь три місяці для того, щоб підготуватись, тому ми вирішили зробити такий перехідний період. Я думаю, що потім буде така ротація, що пан Радуцький стане міністром, а Зоряна піде заступником міністра», – сказав Арахамія.
Він зазначив, що Радуцькому потрібно привести до ладу свої справи в бізнесі.
Сам Радуцький заявив, що не хоче бути міністром через три місяці і наразі бачить себе в парламенті.
Зоряна Скалецька стала міністром охорони здоров’я 29 серпня. До цього три роки відомство очолювала Уляна Супрун.

The United States and Poland may sign an agreement aimed at securing 5G networks when U.S. Vice President Mike Pence visits Warsaw in the coming days, a senior White House official said Friday. Pence leaves Saturday night on a trip to Poland, Ireland, Iceland and Britain. President Donald Trump had planned to make the trip himself, but Pence is going instead so that Trump can remain in the United States as Hurricane Dorian approaches the Atlantic coast. Pence will attend ceremonies marking the start of World War II 80 years ago. But he will also discuss with Polish officials how to maintain cybersecurity with 5G technology edging closer and Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. under scrutiny.
The United States has led a global campaign to persuade allies to ban Huawei, the world’s top telecommunications equipment supplier, from 5G networks. The U.S. government says Huawei can spy on customers, has violated U.S. sanctions on Iran and has stolen American intellectual property. Huawei denies the allegations. “Important steps are being taken, some of which we may be able to announce in the next day or two, to develop a common approach to a 5G network security between our two countries to ensure a secure and vibrant 5G ecosystem,” the official said.
The comments echoed those of a senior Polish official on Thursday. Poland in July proposed tightening its cybersecurity standards and could ban certain products or suppliers from parts of a future 5G network.
The Polish official said no specific company or equipment from any particular country would be excluded as part of any agreement with the United States, although security and cooperation with Washington would be an important aspect. Twitter said Friday the account of chief executive Jack Dorsey had been “compromised” after a series of erratic and offensive messages were posted.The tweets containing racial slurs and suggestions about a bomb showed up around 2000 GMT on the @jack account of the founder of the short messaging service before being deleted.Some of the tweets contained the hashtag #ChucklingSquad, which was believed to indicate the identity of the hacker group. Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg joined several hundred other young people Friday outside the United Nations to demand action on global warming.
To chants of “Greta! Greta!” the petite 16-year-old climate rock star made her way through a sea of young people, many of whom said they had drawn inspiration from her activism.
She rose to fame last year after she started skipping school on Fridays, leading strikes over the lack of action on climate change.
Greta arrived in New York on Wednesday, ahead of a Sept. 21 Youth Climate Summit at the United Nations, which she will address. Adult leaders will meet two days later to have a climate summit of their own.
She has said she will not fly because air travel leaves too big a carbon footprint, and she put her principles to the test, crossing the Atlantic in a zero-emissions, no-frills sailboat with her father and a small crew. The trip took two weeks and the seas were often rough.
On Friday, she looked tired and perhaps a bit overwhelmed by the large and enthusiastic crowd and the aggressive pack of photographers and reporters. She answered a few questions, but her comments were mostly inaudible because there was no sound system and she is not one to shout her message. Olivia, 15, from Long Island, New York, came by commuter train with her friend Defna, also 15, to see Greta. Olivia said her school is very conservative and climate change is not a subject that gets much attention. She wants to change that.
“We want to start being a voice for our school, because we have to, because no one else is,” Olivia said. “We don’t have any clubs about the environment. We don’t have anything. We are trying to start, we have to, because people need to know about it, because they think it’s not as bad as it is.”
This youth movement is angry at world leaders and adults who they think are not taking rising atmospheric temperatures, melting ice caps and greenhouse gas emissions seriously.
“They [adults] have to strike with us, definitely,” Defna said. “And people who do not believe in the issue have to come here and support the kids, because it is our future.”

Greta received an impromptu invitation to meet with the president of the U.N. General Assembly, María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés. She took two of the young New York activists with her, Alexandria Villasenor, 14 and Xiye Bastida, 17.
As they entered the U.N. building, Thunberg noted, “There is a lot of air conditioning.” ‘Tipping point’
In her meeting, she spoke of the upcoming summit.
“I think this U.N. summit needs to be some kind of breaking point, tipping point, where people start to realize what is actually going on,” Thunberg said. “And, so we have high expectations in you, too, and all member states to deliver. And we are going to try to do our part to make sure that they have all eyes on them and they have put the pressure on them so they cannot continue to ignore it.”
Espinosa told VOA that she was impressed with Thunberg because of all that she has done and for “her commitment, strength and intelligence.”
She said they discussed how governments, the private sector, citizens and youth all have roles to play to change the tide of global warming.
Also Friday, a Brazilian delegation met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, “to thank [him] for his support during the crisis surrounding the fires in the Amazon rainforest.”

More than 75,000 fires covering the Amazon region have been detected this year, with many of them coming this month. Experts have blamed farmers and ranchers for the fires, accusing them of setting them to clear lands for their operations.
About 60% of the Amazon region is in Brazil. The vast rainforest also extends into Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.
At the Group of Seven summit in Biarritz, France, last weekend, French President Emmanuel Macron and Bolsonaro went head to head several times over the Amazon fires issue.

23 серпня о центрі Берліна було вбито громадянин Грузії Зелімхан Хангошвілі. Він був застрелений з пістолета з глушником людиною в перуці. Поліція затримала за підозрою у вбивстві 49-річного росіянина. Німецький таблоїд «Більд» називав його Вадимом Сергійовичем. За даними розслідування «Шпігеля» і Bellingcat, підозрюваного звуть Вадим Андрійович Соколов.
За даними розслідувачів, Соколов в’їхав на територію Євросоюзу за новим паспортом, виданим в липні 2019 року. Журналістам не вдалося виявити людини з ім’ям, прізвищем і датою народження, зазначеної в паспорті, ні в одній з російських баз даних, що дозволило їм припустити, що документ – підроблений. В тому числі його немає в базі даних системи «Роспаспорт», що повинно було привести до його затримання на кордоні. Розслідувачі допускають, що паспорт могли видалити з бази, що може вказувати на зв’язок Соколова зі спецслужбами.
Офіційні особи в Берліні особистість затриманого не розкривають, вказуючи тільки його російське громадянство, зазначає агентство Reuters. Міністерство внутрішніх справ країни не прокоментувало агентству розслідування.

Голова правління НСТУ Зураб Аласанія прокоментував обшуки в його офісі та помешканні, а також в помешканнях кількох директорів департаментів телерадіокомпанії, які проводило Державне бюро розслідувань.
«ДБР здійснюють слідчі дії, оскільки вважають, що в працівників Суспільного можуть бути знайдені документи чи флешки, які є речовими доказами в кримінальному провадженні щодо можливих протиправних дій службових осіб ПАТ «НСТУ», а саме зловживання службовим становищем із метою одержання неправомірної вигоди для себе чи інших фізичних або юридичних осіб», – мовиться в повідомленні.
За словами Аласанії, йдеться про закупівлю у 2017 році аудіовізуального обладнання, а також про земельну ділянку, що входить до статутного капіталу телерадіокомпанії та діяльності фонду «Підтримки створення та розвитку суспільного телебачення і радіомовлення в Україні».
«Я вже не кажу, що підслідність ДБР – це державні компанії, а ми такою не є. Чи є думки про політичні корені, пов‘язані зі свободою слова? І чи не пов’язано це з позовом пана Богдана (голови СБУ Андрія Богдана, – ред.) до програми Схеми і до НСТУ? Не знаю; мені поки здається, ДБР демонструє м‘язи і «ставить себе на районі», показує новій владі, що в строю правоохоронців вони теж помітні», – зазначив голова НСТУ.
Він додав, що якщо стане зрозуміло, що таким чином чиниться тиск з метою «приструнити Суспільне», то в НСТУ мовчати про це не будуть.
30 серпня Державне бюро розслідувань провело обшуки в приміщенні Національної суспільної телерадіокомпанії України. У відосмстві зазначили, що слідчі дії птривали в рамках досудового розслідування кримінального провадження щодо «зловживання службовим становищем з метою одержання неправомірної вигоди».
Національна суспільна телерадіокомпанія, зі свого боку, повідомила, що з обшуками прийшли й до голови правління НСТУ Зураба Аласанії та кількох інших співробітників компанії.

British lawmakers will next week pull the trigger on their plans to stop Prime Minister Boris Johnson leading the country out of the European Union without an exit deal. Johnson says he still wants to convince Brussels to give him an improved exit agreement, but will leave without one on Oct. 31 if he has to.A narrow majority of lawmakers in parliament has previously voted to try to stop this outcome, known as a “no-deal” Brexit. But, with only a few weeks left before the deadline and limited time in parliament to play with, what options do they have to block the prime minister?Change the lawBritish law says that the country will end its membership of the EU on Oct. 31. That date can only be changed by the government of the day. This means members of parliament need to find a way to pass a law that requires Johnson to ask the EU to delay Brexit and then, if the EU agrees to the request, make the required changes to domestic legislation.In extremis, a law change could even be used to force Johnson to revoke the government’s intention to quite the EU. However, passing a law against the government’s wishes is not easy because ministers have almost complete control over the parliamentary agenda. To do it requires lawmakers to clear three main hurdles: find a procedural opportunity to hijack the agenda in parliament; win several votes to pass a bill through the lower chamber; and then win a series of votes in the upper chamber.Each stage is fraught with risk. To gain control of the parliamentary agenda will likely require a helping hand from the Speaker John Bercow, who has in the past been supportive of efforts to hinder a no-deal exit. The opposition Labour Party is hoping to use an emergency debate next week to do this, but the method is untested.To win votes in the 650-seat House of Commons will require members of Johnson’s ruling Conservative Party to rebel against their leader. They have proven willing to do this in the past, but some recent decisions have come down to a single vote.The House of Lords, which is largely pro-EU, could also prove a stumbling block if eurosceptic Conservative lawmakers there try to filibuster. Above all, each of these steps take parliamentary time, which is in short supply after Johnson announced on Wednesday that he would suspend parliament for more than a month between mid-September and mid-October.Nevertheless, the approach has been successful once before, earlier this year when parliament passed a law demanding then-Prime Minister Theresa May delay Brexit. In the end, she decided to do so anyway, so the effectiveness of that legislation was not fully tested.Change the governmentParliament can collapse Johnson’s government using a no-confidence vote, creating two opportunities for lawmakers to try to stop a no-deal Brexit.
Firstly, if the government were to lose a no-confidence vote, this could lead to an election that brings in a new government with a strategy to either delay Brexit or revoke the decision to leave the EU.But it is within Johnson’s power to delay any election until after Oct. 31, and his aides have indicated he is willing to take this step to ensure Britain’s exit. The second method is untested and harder to predict. Losing a confidence vote triggers a 14-day period in which a new administration can be formed.If the majority who voted against Johnson were able to prove, by holding a vote in parliament, that they could form a stable alternative government they could try to extend Britain’s EU membership beyond Oct. 31. However, so far rival parties have been reluctant to rally around a single candidate who could lead an alternative
government.In addition, the electoral legislation allowing for this was introduced in 2011 and has never been tested in this way. It has been criticized for not defining exactly how the 14-day period would work and who has the power to do what during it.
Johnson could argue that he is not obliged to resign, decide to hold out until an election is triggered, and then hold that election after Oct. 31.
