Canada, Europe to Choose When 737 MAX Is Safe as Regulators Meet
In a potential challenge to U.S.-led efforts to build consensus on the Boeing Co 737 MAX flying again, Canada and Europe said on Wednesday they would bring back the grounded aircraft on their own terms if their specific concerns are not addressed.
Global regulators will meet in Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday where the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration hopes to reach an international consensus on how to move forward with the MAX, U.S. officials told Reuters.
The plane was grounded worldwide in March following a fatal Ethiopian Airlines crash just months after a similar Lion Air disaster in Indonesia which together killed 346 people.
Global airlines that had rushed to buy the fuel-efficient, longer-range aircraft have since canceled flights and scrambled to cover routes that were previously flown by the MAX.
“From our point of view, if we all work together and we all reach the same aim, fine. If we don’t, we’ll choose our own time to decide when the planes are safe to fly again,” Canadian Transport Minister Marc Garneau told Reuters in an interview.
“The number one focus for us is that we in Canada must be satisfied. It doesn’t matter what others do. So if we are not perfectly synchronized with certain other countries that’s how it going to be,” Garneau said.
Regulators are expected to discuss Boeing’s proposed software fix and new pilot training that are both key to re-starting flights. Boeing has not yet formally submitted its proposals to the FAA.
A spokesman for the European Aviation Safety Agency said on Wednesday that it would complete an additional independent design review of the plane once the FAA approves Boeing’s proposed changes and establishes “adequate training of Boeing MAX flight crews.”
Foreign regulators have already signaled disagreements over measures to end the grounding, with Garneau calling in April for pilots to receive simulator training for the MAX, rather than computer courses, going a step beyond FAA-backed proposals.
Acting FAA Administrator Dan Elwell told Congress last week the FAA is working closely with other civil aviation authorities “to address specific concerns related to the 737 MAX.”
United Airlines Chief Executive Oscar Munoz said on Wednesday that FAA approval is only the first step, with public and employee confidence key to deciding when to fly its 14 MAX jets again.

Brexit Crisis: Minister Quits, Piling Pressure on Britain’s May
Prominent Brexit supporter Andrea Leadsom resigned from Prime Minister Theresa May’s government on Wednesday, piling pressure on the British leader after a new Brexit gambit backfired and fueled calls for her to quit.
So far May has resisted, vowing to press on despite opposition from lawmakers and other ministers to her bid to get her Brexit deal through parliament by softening her stance on a second referendum and customs arrangements.
But Leadsom’s resignation further deepens the Brexit crisis, sapping an already weak leader of her authority. Almost three years since Britain voted to leave the European Union, it is not clear when, how or even if Brexit will happen.
Leadsom, Leader of the House of Commons, said she could not announce the new Withdrawal Agreement Bill, which will implement Britain’s departure, in parliament on Thursday as she did not believe in it.
“I no longer believe that our approach will deliver on the referendum result,” Leadsom, once a challenger to May to become prime minister, said in a resignation letter. “It is therefore with great regret and with a heavy heart that I resign from the government.”
A Downing Street spokesman praised Leadsom and expressed disappointment at her decision, but added: “The prime minister remains focused on delivering the Brexit people voted for.”
May might still try to press on with her new Brexit plan, which includes a vote on whether to hold a second Brexit referendum — once her legislation passes the first stage — as well as closer trading arrangements with the EU.
But it has been met with a swift backlash, with several lawmakers who have supported her in previous Brexit votes saying they could not back the new plan, particularly over her U-turn regarding a possible second referendum.
“I have always maintained that a second referendum would be dangerously divisive, and I do not support the government willingly facilitating such a concession,” Leadsom said.
“No one has wanted you to succeed more than I have,” Leadsom wrote to May. “But I do now urge you to make the right decisions in the interests of the country, this government and our party.”
Labour lawmaker Ian Lavery, chair of the opposition party, said the resignation underlined that “the prime minister’s authority is shot and her time is up.”
“For the sake of the country, Theresa May needs to go, and we need an immediate general election,” he said.
Time to go
Labour’s call echoed those of many of May’s own Conservatives, who say that a fourth attempt to get her deal approved by parliament should be shelved and she should leave office to offer a new leader a chance to reset the dial.
“There is one last chance to get it right and leave in an orderly fashion. But it is now time for Prime Minister Theresa May to go — and without delay,” said Conservative lawmaker Tom Tugendhat, chairman of parliament’s Foreign Affairs Select Committee.
“She must announce her resignation after Thursday’s European (Parliament) elections,” he wrote in the Financial Times.
But while so much about Brexit is up in the air, what is clear is that May plans to stay for now, or at least for the next few days.
The chairman of the powerful Conservative 1922 Committee, which can make or break prime ministers, told lawmakers that she planned to campaign in the European poll on Thursday before meeting with the group on Friday to discuss her leadership.
May has so far fended off bids to oust her by promising to set out a departure timetable once parliament has had a chance to vote again on Brexit, but a new discussion on a possible date could now take place on Friday.
Earlier on Wednesday, May stood firm during more than two hours of questions in parliament, urging lawmakers to back the bill and then have a chance to make changes to it, so they can have more control over the final shape of Brexit.
Asked by euroskeptic lawmaker Jacob Rees-Mogg whether she really believed in the new deal she had proposed or whether she was simply going through the motions, May said, “I don’t think I would have been standing here at the despatch box and be in receipt of some of the comments I have been in receipt of from colleagues on my own side and across the house if I didn’t believe in what I was doing.”
Britain’s marathon crisis over Brexit has stunned allies and foes alike. With the deadlock in London, the world’s fifth-largest economy faces an array of options including an exit with a deal to smooth the transition, a no-deal exit, an election, a second referendum, or even revocation of the Article 50 notice to leave the EU.
The pound was on track for its longest-ever losing streak against the euro as some traders said they saw the rising chance of a no-deal Brexit. Those fears pushed investors into the relative safety of government bonds — particularly those that offer protection against a spike in inflation.
“The proposed second reading of the WAB is clearly doomed to failure so there really is no point wasting any more time on the prime minister’s forlorn hope of salvation,” Andrew Bridgen, a Conservative lawmaker, told Reuters. “She’s got to go.”

Stoltenberg: NATO Summit Set for London on Dec. 3-4
The next NATO summit will be held in London in December, marking the alliance’s 70th anniversary, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday.
“The next summit of Allied leaders will take place on 3-4 December 2019 in London. … I look forward to a successful summit,” he said.
Stoltenberg said the had discussed preparations for the summit of heads of state and government with British Prime Minister Theresa May during a visit to London last week.
The December summit will be a chance to “address current and emerging security challenges and how NATO continues to invest and adapt to ensure it will remain a pillar of stability in the years ahead,” Stoltenberg said in a statement.
He added that London was a fitting venue to mark 70 years of transatlantic military cooperation because it was home to the alliance’s first headquarters after the United Kingdom become one of NATO’s 12 founding members in 1949.
Nowadays there are 29 member states and the headquarters is in Brussels.
“London was the home of our first headquarters, so it is a fitting venue for NATO heads of state and government to plan the Alliance’s future,” said Stoltenberg.
Delicate time
The 70th anniversary comes at a delicate time for NATO.
Tensions with Russia are at a high not seen since the Cold War. There are also concerns about U.S. President Donald Trump’s commitment to the alliance and his willingness to honor its mutual defense pact.
Trump has been unstinting in his criticism of NATO’s European members, accusing them of freeloading on the protection offered by the U.S. military while not spending enough on their own armed forces.
Before taking office, Trump called NATO “obsolete.”
NATO summits normally conclude with a formal, binding statement of aims and actions agreed by all allies — such as the 2014 agreement to try to spend 2 percent of GDP on defense.
It is yet to be confirmed whether a statement will be issued at December’s meeting.
Brexit and NATO
Britain is due to leave the European Union in October, and the December summit will be seen as a signal of solidarity between NATO and the U.K., which is the continent’s leading military power, along with France.
“Brexit will change the United Kingdom’s relationship to the European Union but it will not change the United Kingdom’s relationship to NATO,” Stoltenberg said in February.
On Wednesday, he was back in London for talks with British Defense Secretary Penny Mordaunt. On Thursday, he will participate in a conference on cybersecurity in the British capital.

Саакашвілі в 2015 році отримав українське громадянство та був призначений президентом України Петром Порошенком на посаду голови Одеської обласної держадміністрації. Під час роботи Саакашвілі неодноразово критикував українську владу. Восени 2016 року він пішов у відставку.
Наприкінці липня 2017 року Порошенко підписав указ про припинення громадянства України Міхеїла Саакашвілі, за повідомленнями, через свідоме подання неправдивих відомостей при набутті українського громадянства. 10 вересня 2017 року Саакашвілі потрапив на територію України, не пройшовши прикордонного контролю.
12 лютого 2018 року Міхеїла Саакашвілі затримали в одному з ресторанів у центрі Києва, а згодом Державна прикордонна служба і Державна міграційна служба України заявили, що за процедурою реадмісії його повернули до Польщі – країни, звідки він у вересні 2017 року «прибув, порушуючи українське законодавство». Із Польщі Саакашвілі поїхав до Нідерландів.

Angry Trump Walks Out of Infrastructure Meeting with Democrats
A rare bipartisan commitment between the White House and Congress to make a sweeping agreement on infrastructure has dramatically collapsed.
U.S. President Donald Trump refused to shake hands with lawmakers or sit for a scheduled Oval Office meeting with Congressional Democrats on Wednesday morning, according to those in the room. He then berated House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her comments, earlier in the day, accusing him of a “cover up.”
A visibly angry Trump left after three minutes heading into the Rose Garden to inform a hastily arranged news conference, “I don’t do cover ups.”
He accused Democrats of holding a meeting the same morning to discuss “the I word” – impeachment.
The president said he told Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer that he wanted to make an infrastructure deal more than they did, but “you can’t do it under these circumstances. So get these phony investigations over with.”
The president, in the Rose Garden, termed Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s two-year investigation “a take-down attempt at the president of the United States.”
The outdoor event, steps away from the Oval Office, had obviously been planned far enough in advance to give time to print a placard to place in front of the lectern that denounced the Mueller investigation as a waste of time and money that resulted in “NO Collusion/NO Obstruction.”
Schumer and Pelosi, moments later back on Capitol Hill, accused the president of orchestrating the walkout as an excuse not to negotiate on infrastructure.
“To watch what happened in the White House would make you drop,” said Schumer. “He came up with a pre-planned excuse.”
Schumer said Trump was forced to run away when he could not say how he would pay for an infrastructure bill.
Pelosi accused the president of being unable to “match the greatness of the challenge before him.”
“He just took a pass,” she said. “I pray for the president and for the United States of America.”
Later, in remarks to the Center for American Progress, Pelosi said: “This is why I think the president was so steamed off this morning: Because the fat is in plain sight, in the public domain, this president is obstructing justice and he’s engaged in a cover up. And that could be an impeachable offense.”
White House officials say several aides close to the president attempted to persuade him not to leave the meeting with the lawmakers.
Trump had become angry, officials confirm, just prior to the meeting when Pelosi accused the president of “a cover up” by not cooperating with Congress in requests for testimony from former staff and to hand over documents related to various investigations into his 2016 election campaign and his presidency.
Trump, the previous evening, had sent a letter to Pelosi and Schumer saying there could not be an infrastructure deal until Congress approved the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement, which was the first indication Wednesday morning’s White House meeting with lawmakers would be contentious.
After Trump made his statement to reporters, he took a couple of questions from them and then walked away from the lectern, ignoring further press queries.
The door to the Oval Office slammed shut as the president returned to the Resolute Desk.

Britain’s May Faces Calls to Resign After Revised Brexit Plan Unveiled
British lawmakers are denouncing Prime Minister Theresa May’s latest proposal to withdraw from the European Union (EU) amid growing demands from her own Conservative Party for her resignation.
May said on Tuesday a bill she plans to present to Parliament next month would include a provision to vote on whether to hold a second referendum to leave the EU, a key demand of many opposition lawmakers.
May also offered closer trading arrangements with the EU as another incentive in what she called a “last chance” opportunity to finalize a Brexit deal.
Speaking before the House of Commons on Wednesday, May implored lawmakers to support her bill, warning a rejection would lead to “division and deadlock.”
May said her withdrawal bill would be disclosed Friday so that lawmakers would have time to study it.
Legislators previously spurned May’s exit deal three times and her latest attempt to win support faces an uphill fight. She plans to ask lawmakers to vote on the bill again during the week of June 3.
Members of May’s own Conservative Party accused her of relenting to pro-EU demands while opposition Labour Party lawmakers rejected her latest plan as too little too late.
On Tuesday, May said after Parliament votes on the measure, she will establish a timetable for her departure as leader of the Conservative Party and as prime minister.
A growing number of Conservative Party members, however, are pressing her to cancel the vote and step down sooner.
May is likely to face even more pressure when the results of this week’s European Parliament elections are released, as the Conservative Party is expected to suffer heavy losses.
The election will be held in Britain on Thursday, but the results won’t be announced until all European countries have finished voting late Sunday.
British citizens voted in a referendum to leave the EU three years ago and the country was scheduled to leave the EU on March 29, but the 28-nation bloc extended the deadline until October 31.

Колишній речник ОБСЄ в Україні Майкл Боцюрків пише: «Новий президент України призначає головою адміністрації суперечливого адвоката, який працює для сумнозвісного олігарха Ігоря Коломойського. Питання в тому, чи він взагалі має право бути на державній посаді».

Голова Верховної Ради України Андрій Парубій порівняв дії президента України Володимира Зеленського з початком каденції януковича.
«Вважаю, що указ президента про розпуск парламенту суперечить Конституції України. Зеленський заводить воюючу Україну в конституційну кризу. Указ буде оскаржено в суді. Автор указу буде нести відповідальність. Один президент вже починав свої повноваження з порушення Конституції», – написав Парубій у мережі.
Конституційний суд України в 2010 році, після приходу до влади президента Віктор Януковича ухвалив, що внесення змін до Конституції у 2004 році відбулося з порушенням процедури, і проголосив автоматичне відновлення попередньої редакції основного закону. Україна повернулася від парламентсько-президентської до президентсько-парламентської форми правління, як це було за часів другого президента України Леоніда Кучми. Ці рішення були скасовані в 2014 році за результатами Революції гідності.
На сайті президента 21 травня був опублікований указ про розпуск Верховної Ради України і призначення дострокових виборів парламенту на 21 липня.
За Конституцією України, позачергові вибори до парламент проводяться в період 60 днів із дня опублікування рішення про дострокове припинення повноважень Верховної Ради України.
Чергові вибори парламенту за законом мають відбутися 27 жовтня 2019 року.

Trump, Democrats Debate What to Debate: Infrastructure or Trade
Reality has set in during the three weeks since President Donald Trump and Democratic congressional leaders agreed to work together on a $2 trillion infrastructure package to invest in roads, bridges and broadband.
As Trump and Democratic lawmakers prepare to meet Wednesday for Round 2 of their infrastructure talks, the president is making it clear he’d really rather change the subject.
The White House released a letter Tuesday night that Trump sent House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer letting them know his preference for Congress taking up the proposed U.S. trade deal with Mexico and Canada first.
“Once Congress has passed USMCA, we should turn our attention to a bipartisan infrastructure package,” Trump said.
Republican leaders in Congress have shown little enthusiasm for the price tag of the infrastructure plan, and even less for the idea of raising the federal fuel tax to help pay for upgrading the nation’s infrastructure. Trump himself has suggested that Democrats are somehow setting a trap to get him to go along with a tax increase.
Pelosi and Schumer said after their last White House meeting in late April that there was a consensus on one aspect of infrastructure: The agreement would be big and bold. But funding is a different matter. Democrats emerged saying they would return to hear Trump’s suggestions on how to pay for infrastructure.
But Trump expressed wariness in a Fox News interview that aired Sunday, saying he thought the White House was “being played by the Democrats a little bit.”
“You know, I think what they want me to do is say, Well, what we'll do is raise taxes,' and we'll do this and this and this, and then they'll have a news conference, see,Trump wants to raise taxes,”‘ he said.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., dismissed the potential for a sweeping plan or for raising the gas tax at a recent Senate GOP lunch with Vice President Mike Pence, according to those familiar with the meeting.
And House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., said that it was unrealistic to place the funding decision with the president. Democrats will need to make suggestions, too.
“You don’t ask the president, `Show me how to pay for it,”‘ Scalise said. “The president doesn’t pass the bill that pays for it. Ultimately, it has got to go through the House and Senate. We, Republicans and Democrats in Congress, have to come to an agreement, working with the White House, on how to pay for it. Those negotiations haven’t really started in earnest.”
Trump also requested that Pelosi and Schumer provide more specifics about how much they would like to dedicate to the various priorities they want an infrastructure bill to cover, such as airports, ports and local wastewater systems.
“Your caucus has expressed a wide-range of priorities, and it is unclear which ones have your support,” he said.
Trump also complained that he had hoped to work out the priorities following a meeting in late April at the White House, “but you cancelled a scheduled meeting of our teams, preventing them from advancing our discussions. Nevertheless, I remain committed to passing an infrastructure bill.”
Shortly after the release of Trump’s letter, Pelosi and Schumer issued their own statement, promising to continue “to insist on our principles: that any plan we support be big, bold and bipartisan; that it be comprehensive, future-focused, green and resilient; and that it be a jobs and ownership-boost with strong Buy America, labor, and women, veteran and minority-owned business protections.”
Business and trade groups have been meeting with White House officials to emphasize the importance of shoring up the Highway Trust Fund, which pays for road improvements and transit systems. Federal fuel taxes supply most of the money that goes into the trust fund, but the purchasing power of the gas tax has declined as vehicles have become more fuel efficient.
Some 30 states have enacted fuel tax increases to raise money for local roads and bridges over the past six years, but Congress has not approved a fuel tax increase since 1993. It now stands at 18.3 cents a gallon for gasoline and 24.3 cents a gallon for diesel.
The advocacy groups are trying to make the case that state politicians supportive of gas tax increases have not been punished at the ballot box.
“The political playbook has changed. People will vote for infrastructure even if it means new user fees,” said Linda Bauer Darr, president & CEO of the American Council of Engineering Companies.
However, the White House has been reluctant to provide any details of what the president will support.

Manchester Marks Anniversary of Concert Bombing
Like last year on May 22 bells will toll across the northern English city of Manchester to mark the anniversary — this time the second— of the suicide bombing of the Manchester Arena that left 23 concert-goers dead, including the attacker, and 139 wounded, more than half of them children.
Many of the survivors and relatives of the dead say they remain unable two shake off the terrors of the blast and loss of loved ones. Many of the physically wounded still struggle to overcome injuries and disabilities.
Several hundred of the concert-goers at the arena, there to listen to American singer Ariana Grande, are still grappling with the effects of psychological trauma of the deadliest terrorist attack, and the first suicide bombing in Britain since the 7 July 2005 London bombings.
The parents of eight-year-old Saffie Roussos, the youngest of those killed, say they remain stuck in 2017 when radical Islamist Salman Ramadan Abedi, a 22-year-old local man of Libyan descent, detonated a shrapnel-laden homemade bomb that shred bodies and lives. He is thought to have trained for the attack in Libya.
“Saffie had got hold of my hand, and she was pulling me, jumping about,” Lisa Roussos told the BBC on the eve of the anniversary.
“And the next minute I just hit the floor with a thud,” she added. She couldn’t move, but she could blink and willed herself to keep her eyes open. Lisa Roussos was gravely injured and had to relearn to walk. She was in a coma for six weeks and only learned about her daughter’s death after she woke up.
Two years on Saffie’s parents say the bombing remains raw. The time makes no difference, the parents said. “I feel like we’re stuck in 2017,” said little girl’s father, Andrew Roussos.
In a statement marking the anniversary, Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council, said the city “will never forget the terrible events of May 22, 2017, nor the remarkable display of unity and love which followed. Those who were killed and their loved ones, as well as all those left physically or mentally injured, have a place in our hearts.”
Despite the territorial defeat of the Islamic State group, the danger of radical Islamist terrorism remains far from over, say counter-terror experts. More than 500 incarcerated Islamist militants are due to be freed in Europe over the next two years, according to Olivier Guitta, head of the geopolitical risk company GlobalStrat.
Guitta, who contributed to a report released Wednesday by GlobSec, a think tank, on the criminal ties of many of Europe’s Islamist militants, says European governments need to consider lengthening jail terms for those convicted of terror offenses and not granting early release for good behavior.
While the security services are doing a “good job at honing down on the potential terrorists, he says in a conclusion to the report, “the sheer number of people, up to 30,000, recorded on Britain’s main terror watchlist including 3,000 branded as dangerous, make it impossible for security services to monitor even a fraction of that, knowing that about 30 officers are needed per individual.”
He adds: “Due to early releases from prisons and generally short sentences, the situation is even more problematic and will allow 500 dangerous jihadists to be freed in the next two years in Europe.”
According to the report, most of the Islamist militants who’ve carried out attacks in Britain in the past six years were already on terror watch lists, and more than half of British militants arrested for terrorist offenses were under surveillance prior to their detention.
Like most of jihadists who carried out attacks on European soil, Manchester bomber Abedi was “on the radar of security services and was at one point actually monitored until the investigation was dropped off because nothing happened,” says Guitta.
Many of the relatives of the dead attending services in Manchester Wednesday say the government needs to mandate tougher security checks at large public events.
Earlier this week, Britain’s interior minister Sajid Javid announced plans to update the country’s treason laws to cover terrorists. British-born jihadis returning from the battlefields of the Middle East would be open to prosecution under the planned updated law, say officials.
Calls for an updated treason law increased have increased after officials said they were abandoning efforts to prosecute two alleged members of the Islamic State so-called “Beatles” cell, a quartet of Britons responsible for torturing and beheading Western hostages in Syria, including American journalist James Foley.
A paper drawn up by the Policy Exchange think-tank last year suggested defining treason as “aiding a hostile state of organization.”The paper set out a series of actions that could be deemed treason, including helping prepare or commit an attack in Britain, aiding the military or intelligence operations of a state or organization intending to attack Britain or “prejudicing the security and defense of the UK”.

Bulgaria, Greece Start Work on Gas Pipeline from Azerbaijan
Bulgaria and Greece are launching the construction of a pipeline to transport Azeri gas to Bulgaria to ease its almost total dependence on Russian gas supplies.
At a ceremony near the border on Wednesday, the two prime ministers, Boyko Borissov and Alexis Tsipras, oversaw the formal start to construction of the 182-kilometer (114 miles) link between the two countries’ gas transmission systems.
The pipeline is scheduled to become operational at the end of 2020, when Bulgaria is due to receive deliveries of Azeri gas from the Shah Deniz 2 development.
The link is estimated to cost 220 million euros ($245 million) and its projected capacity will be between 3 and 5 billion cubic meters (105-175 billion cubic feet) per year.

Європейський союз ухвалив остаточну заборону на одноразовий пластик
Рада Європейського союзу 21 травня ухвалила директиву про заборону в ЄС деяких одноразових пластикових виробів, для яких існує альтернатива.
Згідно з новими правилами, пластикові тарілки, столові прибори, трубочки для пиття, тримачі для повітряних кульок та ватні палички одноразового використання будуть заборонені до 2021 року.
Крім того, запроваджуються заходи щодо скорочення використання пластикових виробів, якими найбільш часто засмічують навколишнє середовище.
До 2029 року 90% використаних пластикових пляшок мають бути зібрані в сміття і відсортовані. Крім того, до 2025 року в складі пластикових пляшок повинно бути щонаймнеше 25% матеріалу, який можна переробити. До 2030 року такого матеріалу в пляшках має бути не менше ніж 30%.
Першою країною в світі, що заборонила пластиковий посуд, стала Франція у 2016 році. Навесні минулого року заборонити пластиковий посуд запропонувала Єврокомісія.
Раніше від використання пластикових соломинок і інших виробів відмовлялися окремі міста США, а також окремі компанії, наприклад, Starbucks. У ряді країн Африки запроваджена заборона на використання поліетиленових пакетів.
У січні на розгляд Верховної Ради України внесли законопроект, який пропонує значно обмежити продаж деяких видів поліетиленових пакетів.
За даними екологів, у 2012 році кількість пластикового сміття у Світовому океані становило приблизно 165 мільйонів тонн. У 2014 році на поверхні океану лежало 268 940 тонн пластику.

Зеленський призначив випускника московського військового училища Хомчака начальником Генштабу – Головнокомандувачем ЗС України
Володимир Зеленський призначив генерал-лейтенанта Руслана Хомчака начальником Генерального штабу – Головнокомандувачем Збройних Сил України. Відповідний Указ Глава держави підписав сьогодні, 21 травня.
Руслан Хомчак закінчив Московське загальновійськове училище. А стрімкий кар’єрний зліт Хомчака розпочався після приходу до влади убивці і зрадника януковича. У 2011 році полковник Хомчак указом Президента України № 859/2011 від 23 серпня 2011 року отримує військове звання генерал-майора. У травні 2012 його підвищують з посади начальника штабу 8-го армійського корпусу до командира 6-го армійського корпусу, а у серпні 2013 року присвоюють військове генерал-лейтенанта. У листопаді того ж року 6-й армійський корпус було переформовано у Оперативне командування «Південь», тимчасово виконуючим обов’язки командира якого і став Руслан Хомчак.
Під час війни на сході України Руслан Хомчак обіймав посаду командувача сектора «Б» сил Антитерористичної операції. На його адресу доволі часто лунали звинувачення у некомпетентності та зраді від представників громадськості та добровольчих батальйонів. Зокрема, наприкінці травня з’явилася інформація, що генерал-лейтенант Хомчак саботував видачу зброї батальйону територіальної оборони «Айдар» та ніяк не реагував на доповіді про необхідність надання медичної допомоги бійцю батальйону, через що товариші по службі змушені були самотужки доставляти потерпілого до медичного закладу. Більше того, він видав наказ, згідно з яким «Айдару» заборонено проводити будь-які бойові дії. У відповідь на це Хомчак заявив, що керувався виключно законами України і всім, хто пройшов відбір у батальйон та був на офіційній основі зарахований до його складу, зброю видали. Ті ж, хто відбір не пройшов, почали вимагати амуніцію і для себе, однак на законних підставах отримати її не могли.
Зі слів Костянтина Гришина (псевдонім – Семен Семенченко), під час операції з взяття Іловайська, яка здійснювалася під безпосереднім керівництвом Хомчака значно меншими силами, ніж передбачалося за планом, велика частина бійців з добровольчих батальйонів потрапила у оточення. Гришин вважає, що причиною тому став відступ військових формувань від Новоазовська, що дозволив бойовикам «ДНР» та російським солдатам оточити представників батальйонів територіальної оборони. На допомогу їм було спрямовано бригаду Нацгвардії, однак не дійшовши до місця призначення ті отримали наказ командування повертати назад. З іншого боку, як стверджували бійці батальнону «Азов», Р. Хомчак, під час спроб визволення Іловайська добровольчими батальйонами, відмовлявся йти з ними в бій з надуманих причин.

Президент Зеленський порушує закони України і ми українці-президенти маємо право робити теж саме
20 травня 2019 року Зеленський пафосно заявив:
Кожен з нас Президент. Не 73 відсотки, які за мене голосували, а всі 100 відсотків українців.
А на другий день 21 травня 2019 він підписує незаконний указ про розпуск Верховної Ради 8-го скликання. Про це свідчить інформація на сайті глави держави:
“Керуючись частиною другою статті 77, частинами шостою і сьомою статті 83, пунктом 1 частини другої статті 90 Конституції України та відповідно до пунктів 7 і 8 частини першої статті 106 Конституції України постановляю: 1. Припинити достроково повноваження Верховної Ради України восьмого скликання”, – сказано в указі.
Згодом Зеленський пояснив своє рішення так:
«Головним аргументом для розпуску Верховної Ради є дуже низька довіра громадян України до цієї інституції – 4%. Це – оцінка роботи парламенту і найвагоміший аргумент для припинення його повноважень. Я як гарант Конституції зобов’язаний гарантувати права громадян України. Юридична підстава для розпуску – з 2016 року не існувало коаліції», – сказав він.
Жодних докуметальних підтверджень даної юридичної підстави не існує. Просто Зеленському так здалося! Якби він був Християнином, то йому варто було б перехреститися, коли здається…

Тепер, щодо призначення голови адміністрації Президента. Андрій Богдан працював на високих посадах за часів убивці і зрадника януковича, тому він підпадає під заборону займати державні посади згідно із законом про люстрацію і не має права ставати головою АП. Як відомо, у березні 2010 року він був заступником міністра Кабінету міністрів України та урядовим уповноваженим з питань антикорупційної політики (антикорупційна політика при януковичу, сама назва посади викликає сміх – ред.). Пізніше цю посаду ліквідували, однак у 2013 році кровосіс азаров знову призначив Андрія Богдана уповноваженим Кабміну в сфері антикорупційної політики!!! Після Євромайдану та відставки уряду азарова у березні 2014 року Андрія Богдана вигнали. Тепер Коломойський запхнув свого похвостича в АП.
Таким чином, пане Зеленський, з першого ж дня роботи, ви неодноразово грубо порушуєте українські закони. Що ж, якщо за вашими словами всі ми українці Президенти, то ми маємо таке ж право не виконувати закони і підзаконні акти, які нам не подобаються. Ми не будемо більше платити податків до скарбниці, поки не будемо впевнені, що жодна гривна не буде вкрадена нікчемами на кшталт коломойського, ахметова, пінчука, фірташа і багатьма іншими. Jamie Oliver’s British Restaurant Chain Collapses
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s restaurant chain in Britain has filed for bankruptcy protection, closing 22 of its 25 eateries and leaving some 1,000 people out of work.
The remaining outlets, two Jamie’s Italian restaurants and a Jamie’s Diner at Gatwick Airport outside London, will stay open, the financial firm KPMG, which will oversee the process, said in a statement Tuesday.
Oliver said on Twitter he was “devastated that our much-loved UK restaurants have gone into administration,” a form of bankruptcy protection, and thanked people “who have put their hearts and souls into this business over the years.”
Oliver gained fame as “The Naked Chef” on television, which aired in dozens of countries, after premiering in Britain some 20 years ago. The television success was followed by a number of cookbooks. The restaurant chain included Jamie’s Italian, Jamie Oliver’s Diner and Barbecoa steakhouses.
Five branches of the Australian arm of Jamie’s Italian have also been sold and another put into administration.
Oliver’s restaurants started to lose revenue in 2016. Business got so bad for the restaurant group that Oliver injected millions of dollars of his own money in an effort to turn the tide.
“The current trading environment for companies across the casual dining sector is as tough as I’ve ever seen,” Will Wright, an administrator at KPMG, said in a statement. “The directors at Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group have worked tirelessly to stabilize the business against a backdrop of rising costs and brittle consumer confidence.”
Other British chains have also had to close outlets. Earlier this year, cafe chain Patisserie Valerie was forced to close 70 outlets, at the cost of 920 jobs.
Celebrity chefs in the U.S. have also fallen on hard times. Thomas Keller closed Bouchon in Beverly Hills in 2017, saying it couldn’t remain profitable. That same year, Guy Fieri closed Guy’s American Kitchen and Bar in New York’s Times Square and Daniel Boulud closed DBGB Kitchen and Bar in New York, saying it didn’t get enough business during the week.

Trump to Democrats: Pass Trade Deal, Then Infrastructure
President Donald Trump is telling Democratic leaders that he believes Congress should first pass a new trade deal with Canada and Mexico before taking up a bill to boost the nation’s infrastructure.
The president made his request in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer before a White House meeting Wednesday.
The Democratic leaders and Trump are aiming for a $2 trillion bill to address roads, bridges and other priorities.
Trump says he remains committed to passing a bill, but he wants Pelosi and Schumer to spell out their priorities and how much money they would provide to each. He says Democrats have “expressed a wide-range of priorities, and it is unclear which ones have your support.”

Two 2 More Former White House Officials Subpoenaed
The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed two more former top White House officials after ex-White House Counsel Donald McGahn ignored his subpoena to testify about President Donald Trump’s alleged obstruction of justice.
Democratic chairman Jerrold Nadler says the committee wants to hear from former communications director Hope Hicks and McGahn’s former chief of staff Annie Donaldson.
They have been ordered to provide documents and summoned to appear before the lawmakers next month.
Shortly before she resigned in March 2018, Hicks told the House Intelligence Committee that she sometimes told “white lies” for Trump.
As McGahn’s second-in-command, Donaldson is believed to have pages and pages of notes related to Trump and his reaction to the Mueller investigation.
Contempt of Congress
Meanwhile, Nadler is threatening to hold McGahn in contempt of Congress for his refusal to testify Tuesday, after Trump told him to ignore the subpoena and the Justice Department said he cannot be forced to appear.
“Our subpoenas are not optional,” Nadler said as he sat just a few meters from McGahn’s empty witness chair. “Let me be clear: this committee will hear Mr. McGahn’s testimony even if we have to go to court to secure it…we will not allow the president to stop this committee’s investigation.”
Nadler said McGahn’s testimony was essential after the Mueller report recounted that Trump ordered McGahn to get rid of Mueller and then lie about it to the press. McGahn refused to carry out Trump’s orders.
The Mueller team interviewed McGahn for 30 hours about his interactions with Trump.
GOP sees a ‘circus’
The leading Republican Judiciary Committee, Doug Collins, attacked Democrats for staging the short hearing without McGahn, calling it “a circus.”
“The Democrats are trying to make something out of nothing,” noting that Mueller concluded that Trump did not collude with Russia to help him win the White House.
Trump tweeted Tuesday “The Democrats were unhappy with the outcome of the $40 million Mueller Report, so now they want a do-over.”
Mueller reached no decision whether Trump obstructed justice by trying to thwart his investigation.
Attorney General William Barr and former deputy Rod Rosenstein concluded there there weren’t sufficient grounds to charge Trump with obstruction of justice.
Lawmakers not satisfied
Nadler’s committee voted two weeks ago to hold Barr in contempt of Congress after he refused to turn over an unredacted copy of Mueller’s 448-page report into whether Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia.
But congressional Democrats, along with several Republicans are not satisfied by Mueller’s stated inability to reach a conclusion about obstruction allegations, and his statement that he could not exonerate the president.
A Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, David Cicilline, told MSNBC television that if McGahn listened to Trump and defied the subpoena, an impeachment inquiry against the president should be started.
