В апараті президента США зазначили, що Шайн долучиться до кампанії перевиборів чинного президента США Дональда Трампа.
«Білл Шайн зробив видатну роботу для мене та адміністрації. Ми сумуватимемо за ним у Білому домі, але чекаємо на роботу під час президентської кампанії 2020 року», – сказав Трамп.
Колишній виконавчий директора телеканалу Fox News Шайн був шостим очільником комунікаційної політики Білого дому Трампа. Він працював із 5 липня 2018 року. Наразі не відомо, хто його замінить.

Австрійський МЗС планує включити питання свободи слова в Україні до порядку денного зустрічі європейських дипломатів, яка пройде 18 березня в Брюсселі. На думку австрійської влади, дії України ставлять під загрозою свободу преси в країні.
7 березня перший заступник голови комітету Верховної Ради з питань свободи слова Ольга Червакова із посиланням на свої джерела в СБУ повідомила, що Вершютцу заборонили в’їзд до України на один рік.
За її словами, Вершютц «висвітлював події в Україні, широко використовуючи штампи кремлівської пропаганди, тиражуючи фейки від Russia Today», та відвідував тимчасово окуповані території Донецької, Луганської областей та Криму через неконтрольовані пункти пропуску з території Російської Федерації, чим порушив порядок перетину українського кордону.

Trump Claims Vindication in Former Campaign Manager’s Sentencing
U.S. President Donald Trump is claiming vindication in the sentencing of his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, after a U.S. federal judge ruled Manafort should serve 47 months in prison for tax and bank fraud.
“I feel very badly for Paul Manafort. I think it’s been a very, very tough time for him,” said Trump as he departed the White House early Friday, en route to the state of Alabama to view damage from this week’s deadly hurricane.
“But, if you notice, both his lawyer, a highly respected man, and a very highly respected judge — the judge said there was no collusion with Russia,” the president said.
Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted that the Russia probe headed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller is a “collusion witch-hoax” and again denied that he colluded with Russia.
On Thursday, U.S. District Court Judge T.S. Ellis III stated that Manafort was “not before this court for anything having to do with collusion with the Russian government to influence this election,” pointing out that Manafort was not on trial for the main focus of the Mueller probe — whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.
In the sentencing, the judge did not specifically rule out the potential of collusion between Moscow and the Trump campaign.
Substantially less sentence
Manafort’s 47-month sentence is substantially less than the 19 to 21 years prosecutors wanted, which would have likely meant the 69-year-old Manafort would spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Ellis said the federal sentencing guidelines — and harsh punishment that Mueller recommended — were excessive.
Manafort was brought into the courtroom in a wheelchair and supported himself with a cane. He appeared more worn and haggard than he did just a few years ago when he was one of the most influential Republicans in Washington.
While not apologizing for his crimes, Manafort told the judge Thursday that his life “professionally and financially is in shambles.”
“To say I have been humiliated and ashamed would be a gross understatement,” he said.
Along with the nearly four years in prison, Ellis also fined Manafort $50,000.
Additional charges
Manafort was charged with hiding from the government millions of dollars he earned as a lobbyist for Ukraine’s former pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych — meaning that was millions of dollars on which he paid no taxes.
Manafort also lied to banks in Virginia to secure loans for his luxurious lifestyle, including large homes and designer clothes.
In addition, Manafort was convicted of separate federal charges of conspiracy and witness tampering. He is set to be sentenced next week.
The sentence for Manafort is a bit surprising because Manafort agreed to cooperate with Mueller in the Russia probe, hoping for a lighter punishment.
But another judge had ruled that Manafort lied to prosecutors in the Russia probe and violated his plea deal, saying he was no longer entitled to leniency.

Former Fox News executive Bill Shine has resigned as White House communications director and has joined President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign as a senior adviser.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders says that Trump accepted Shine’s resignation Thursday evening. The resignation is effective Friday.
Trump says in a statement released by the White House that Shine “has done an outstanding job working for me and the administration.” Trump says he looks forward to working with Shine on the campaign.

US Adds Just 20K Jobs; Unemployment Dips
Hiring tumbled in February, with U.S. employers adding just 20,000 jobs, the smallest monthly gain in nearly a year and a half. The slowdown in hiring, though, might have been depressed by harsh winter weather and the partial shutdown of the government.
Last month’s weak gain came after employers had added a blockbuster 311,000 jobs in January, the most in nearly a year. Over the past three months, job growth has averaged a solid 186,000, enough to lower the unemployment rate over time.
And despite the tepid pace of hiring in February, the government’s monthly jobs report Friday included some positive signs: Average hourly pay last month rose 3.4 percent from a year earlier _ the sharpest year-over-year increase in a decade. The unemployment rate also fell to 3.8 percent, near the lowest level in five decades, from 4 percent in January.
Unseasonably cold weather, which affects such industries as construction and restaurants, afflicted some areas of the country in February. And the 35-day government shutdown that ended in late January likely affected the calculation of job growth.
Still, the hiring pullback comes amid signs that growth is slowing because of a weaker global economy, a trade war between the United States and China and signs of caution among consumers. Those factors have led many economists to forecast weaker growth in the first three months of this year.
Sluggish hiring and job cuts in February were widespread across industries. Construction cut 31,000 jobs, the most in more than five years. Manufacturing added just 4,000 jobs. Retailers cut 6,100. Job growth in a category that includes mostly restaurants and hotels were unchanged last month after adding a huge 89,000 gain in January.
Most analysts expect businesses to keep hiring and growth to rebound in the April-June quarter. It will be harder than usual, though, to get a precise read on the economy because many data reports are still delayed by the partial shutdown of the government.
In the meantime, there are cautionary signs. Consumer confidence fell sharply in January, held back by the shutdown and by a steep fall in stock prices in December. And Americans spent less over the winter holidays, with consumer spending falling in December by the most in five years.
Home sales fell last year and price gains are slowing after the average rate on a 30-year mortgage reached nearly 5 percent last year. Sales of new homes also cratered late last year before picking up in December. And U.S. businesses have cut their orders for equipment and machinery for the past two months, a sign that they are uncertain about their customer demand.
The economy is forecast to be slowing to an annual growth rate of just 1 percent in the first three months of this year, down from 2.6 percent in the October-December quarter. Growth reached nearly 3 percent for all of last year, the strongest pace since 2015.
Still, economists expect a rebound in the April-June quarter, and there are already signs of one: Consumer confidence rose in February along with the stock market.
And more Americans signed contracts to buy homes in January, propelled by lower mortgage rates. Analysts have forecast that annual growth will top 2 percent next quarter.

Trump: China Trade Deal Must Be ‘Very Good,’ or No Deal
U.S. President Donald Trump says he will not sign a trade deal with China unless it is a “very good deal.”
Trump made the comments Friday as he left the White House to tour tornado damage in the southern U.S. state of Alabama. The United States and China have been battling over trade tariffs since last year.
The White House is planning a summit between Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Florida later this year.
“If this isn’t a great deal, I won’t make a deal,” Trump said. Then he added: “We will do very well either way, with or without a deal.”
The trade dispute between the United States and China has begun to affect China’s economic growth.
China’s exports and imports fell significantly more than expected in the month of February, data published Friday by the country’s customs administration showed.
China’s trade surplus with the U.S. narrowed to $14.7 billion for the month, from $27.3 billion in January.
China’s February exports plummeted 20.7 percent from the same period a year prior, and imports dropped 5.2 percent from a year earlier, considerably more than expected. According to a Bloomberg News poll, the forecast was 5.0 percent and 0.6 percent respectively.
Recent economic data reveal the difficulties China faced in the fourth quarter of 2018 as its growth rate slowed to 6.4 percent.
In January, an import barometer of prices in the industrial sector neared contraction, while manufacturing activity in February marked the worst performance in three years.
China’s government announced major tax cuts, fee reductions and a looser monetary policy to combat the economic growth slowdown.

Косово фактично вийшло з переговорів із Белградом – президент Сербії
Платформа для переговорів із Сербією, ухвалена парламентом Косова 7 березня, є фактичним припиненням переговорів Белграда і Приштини. Про це після засідання Ради національної безпеки 8 березня заявив преидент Сербії Александар Вучич.
За його словами, сербська відповідь на вимоги Косова буде «енергійною, серйозною, відповідальною й твердою». Вучич уточнив, що найближчим часом будуть запроваджені заходи, що стосуються невиконання Приштиною Брюссельскої угоди та накладення 100-відсоткового мита на товари, які Сербія постачає до Косова.
Парламент Косова 7 березня ухвалив платформу для переговорів з Белградом, якою передбачається визнання Сербією незалежності Косова, скасування резолюції 1244 Ради безпеки ООН й призупинення сербської блокади вступу Косова до ООН, Євросоюзу та інших міжнародних організацій.
У Белграді 8 березня перебував заступник держсекретаря США з політичних питань Девід Гейл, який виступив за продовження діалогу Сербії й Косова, скасування 100-відсоткового мита та призупинення взаємних провокацій. Він висловив сподівання, що Белград й Приштина досягнуть домовленості до кінця року й додав, що США не даватимуть рецептів для врегулювання відносин двох сторін. З Белграда американський дипломат поїхав до Приштини.
Оглядачі нагадують, що Вашингтон внаслідок запровадження 100-відсоткового мита відмовив у візах 20 косовським урядовцям, в тому числі й премʼєр-міністрові Рамушу Харадінаю.

Федеральний суд США засудив колишнього голову виборчого штабу Дональда Трампа Пола Манафорта до 47 місяців ув’язнення за ухилення від сплати податків та банківські махінації. Суд зарахував до відбутого терміну покарання 9 місяців, які підсудний уже провів за гратами.
Це перший із вироків Манафорту, наступного тижня на нього чекає вирок в іншій судовій справі – щодо змови та тиску на свідків.
Перед оголошенням вироку суддя Елліс чітко заявив, що вирок Манафорту не пов’язаний із розслідуванням спеціального прокурора США Мюллера щодо ймовірного російського втручання у вибори 2016 року. Водночас суддя відзначив, що Манафорт не заслуговує на поблажливість за визнання відповідальності за свої дії.
Пол Манафорт очолював виборчу кампанію Дональда Трампа протягом кількох місяців 2016 року. Він також тривалий час виступав радником української Партії регіонів.

Jailed British-Iranian Aid Worker Given Diplomatic Protection
Britain will hand diplomatic protection to British-Iranian aid worker Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe to underline the government’s belief that Iran has behaved unjustly in its treatment of her, foreign minister Jeremy Hunt said on Thursday.
Hunt said while the move, a little-used way for governments to seek protection on behalf of their nationals, was unlikely to be a “magic wand,” it may help Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s case.
Iran’s ambassador in London said on Twitter that Britain’s move “contravenes international law.”
Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a project manager with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, was arrested in April 2016 at a Tehran airport as she headed back to Britain with her daughter after a family visit.
She was sentenced to five years in jail after being convicted of plotting to overthrow Iran’s clerical establishment, a charge denied by her family and the Foundation, a charity organization that operates independently of Thomson Reuters and Reuters News.
“I have today decided that the UK will take a step that is extremely unusual and exercise diplomatic protection,” Hunt said in a statement, adding that the move signaled to Tehran that “its behavior is totally wrong.”
“It is unlikely to be a magic wand that leads to an overnight result. But it demonstrates to the whole world that Nazanin is innocent and the UK will not stand by when one of its citizens is treated so unjustly,” he said.
Diplomatic protection is a mechanism under international law through which a state may seek reparation for injury to one of its nationals on the basis that the second state has committed an internationally wrongful act against that person.
“UK Govt’s extension of diplomatic protection to Ms Zaghari contravenes int’l law. Govts may only exercise such protection for own nationals,” Hamid Baeidinejad, Iran’s ambassador in London, said on Twitter.
“As (the) UK Govt is acutely aware, Iran does not recognize dual nationality. Irrespective of UK residency, Ms Zaghari thus remains Iranian,” Baeidinejad added.
Earlier this year, Zaghari-Ratcliffe went on hunger strike in protest at her treatment in jail.
“We have been working hard to secure her release but despite repeated efforts have not been successful. We have not even been able to secure her the medical treatment she urgently needs despite assurances to the contrary,” Hunt said.
“No government should use innocent individuals as pawns for diplomatic leverage so I call on Iran to release this innocent woman so she can be reunited with her family.”

Longest Bull Market Looks to Keep Going
Wall Street has rewarded its most patient investors handsomely over the past 10 years. Is there more to come?
The S&P 500, the U.S. market’s benchmark index, has gained about 309 percent since bottoming out at 676.53 points in March 2009 during the Great Recession, according to FactSet. The index is now 5.4 percent below its recent peak of 2,930.75 set on Sept. 20.
This bull market’s lifespan, the longest on record, speaks to financial markets’ resiliency in the face of a variety of shocks, including a brutal fourth quarter of 2018.
Whether the bull keeps running hinges on whether companies can continue raking in profits, a key driver of the stock market, and whether the U.S. economy can avoid sliding into a recession. Bull markets tend to wither when fear of a recession kicks in.
Profits are ‘oxygen’
“As long as corporate profits are growing, that’s usually the oxygen for further gains in the stock market,” said David Lefkowitz, senior Americas equity strategist at UBS Global Wealth Management.
Profit growth for the companies in the S&P 500 averaged 25.6 percent in the first three quarters of last year. That slipped to 13.4 percent in the fourth quarter, but still topped expectations.
But earnings are expected to decline slightly in the first quarter and grow in the mid-single digits for the full year, according to FactSet. And the U.S. economy has been showing signs of slowing and is expected to continue to do so this year.
“The risk of recession grows,” said Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA, noting that the U.S. economy’s current expansion will become the longest in history by the end of July.
“However, we currently see no quarterly GDP declines through the fourth quarter of 2020, let alone back-to-back declines, which have been a rule of thumb for recessions,” he said.
Meanwhile, the wild card for the market — and the economy — might be the long-running, costly trade conflict between Washington and Beijing. While reportedly on track for a resolution as early as this month, the spat continues to weigh on investors’ nerves and many companies’ plans.
Concerns in late 2018
The bull market has looked very vulnerable at times during its decade-long run, most recently at the end of last year. That’s when a bevy of concerns, including rising interest rates, the trade spat, slowing global economic growth and some tepid profit forecasts, sent the S&P 500 into a skid that resulted in the index’s worst December since the Great Depression.
That slide culminated on Dec. 24, when the S&P 500 closed 19.8 percent below its all-time high. A drop of 20 percent or more would have ushered in a bear market.
What we've seen and continue to see is doubts,'' said Ryan Detrick, senior market strategist at LPL.People have doubted it the whole way up.”
And yet, the bull shrugged that off, too, and now the market is off to its best start to a year since 1991.
It was a good-sized correction that freaked everybody out,'' Detrick said.Then the realization comes that the economy is on good footing.”
The Federal Reserve put investors at ease in January when it signaled a prolonged pause in further interest rate hikes. That calmed fears that the central bank would keep raising rates at a pace that could derail the economy.
One of the key questions in gauging the longevity of the bull market is the outlook for inflation and what action the Fed will take to try to manage it.
For now, inflation remains below the 2 percent target used by the Fed to determine whether annual price increases are growing too rapidly. It was up 1.7 percent in the 12 months ended in December.
As long as inflation remains at that level, the Fed has less incentive to raise rates.
Slower growth
The U.S. economy turned in a solid performance in 2018, boosted in part by tax cuts and higher government spending. But economic growth slowed to 2.6 percent in the last three months of the year from 3.4 percent in the third quarter.
Most economists envision a weaker performance for the coming months and probably years. Some expect gross domestic product to drop to a growth rate of 2 percent or less in the current January-March period.
Investors have grown cautious about business conditions going forward as signs of weakness in the global economy have emerged. Uncertainty over trade has also helped cloud the outlook for company profits this year.
Still, even modest company earnings growth should keep the bull market rolling.
We think the bull market is still intact,'' Lefkowitz said.And at some point, we’re likely to see new all-time highs for the broad market gauges.”

Trump, Czech Prime Minister Babis Have Much in Common
President Donald Trump and Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis now have another thing in common: They both like the same campaign slogan.
Babis said Thursday at the White House that he similarly wants to “Make the Czech Republic great again.”
The two leaders already have much in common.
Babis, like Trump, is a wealthy businessman who rode into office on a nationalist-style campaign.
While Trump is dogged by special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, Babis is facing charges of misusing European Union subsidies for a farm he transferred to relatives, including his son.
Trump wants to strengthen the U.S. border with Mexico. Babis is a vocal opponent of accepting migrants and refugees in his country.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump greeted the prime minister of the central European country and his wife, Monika Babisova, outside the White House and they walked to the Oval Office.
“Czech Republic doing very, very well economically and in all other respects,” Trump said. “It’s always been a safe country. Strong military. Strong people. We have a very good relationship with the Czech Republic and the United States. We do a lot of trade.”
Babis said U.S.-Czech Republic business relations are growing.
“Our investors are investing in the U.S. and already created thousands of jobs,” Babis said. “Mr. President, I watched your 2019 State of the Union address and I perfectly understand you plan how to make America great again. I have a similar plan to make the Czech Republic great again.”
The two leaders also discussed cybersecurity. A Czech watchdog followed U.S. authorities in warning against use of hardware or software made by Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE.
Huawei has become the target of U.S. security concerns because of its ties to the Chinese government. The U.S. has pressured other countries to limit use of its technology, warning they could be opening themselves up to surveillance and theft of information.
“Our countries will work to ensure secure and reliable telecommunications networks and supply chains to reduce the risk of malicious cyber activity,” the two leaders said in a joint statement issued after their meeting. “We resolve to deepen our cooperation. … to develop telecommunications security principles.”
On trade, Trump has raised the ire of many Europeans by imposing tariffs on aluminum and steel, while threatening to slap tariffs on imports of cars from the European Union. Before leaving for the United States, Babis told The Associated Press that he hoped the trade spat would not escalate and that talks would result in a solution that avoids a trade war.
In their statement, the two leaders also said they would work together to promote enhanced energy diversification in Europe and ensure security. “We will further investigate the potential benefits of regional energy infrastructure development in Central Europe,” they said.
Babis’ visit coincides with the 30th anniversary of the 1989 anti-communist “Velvet Revolution” and the 20th anniversary of the Czech Republic’s membership in NATO, which began in 1999.
The Czech Republic is among the countries criticized by Trump for not meeting the NATO goal of committing 2 percent of their gross domestic product to defense. Babis has promised to meet the target by 2024.

У МВС відкидають звинувачення СБУ про зрив операції відносно особи, що підозрюється в держзраді
У міністерстві внутрішніх справ заявили, що не знали про проведення Службою безпеки України операції поблизу офісу кандидата у президенти України Володимира Зеленського.
«Для нас велика несподіванка дізнатися із офіційної заяви СБУ про те, що спецслужба буцімто заздалегідь повідомляла МВС про здійснення таємних оперативних заходів. Адже, відповідно до законодавства, про це мають право знати лише дотичні особи зі спеціальним допуском. У зв’язку із цим повідомляємо, що Міністерство внутрішніх справ та Національна поліція України жодним чином не втручаються в роботу дружнього правоохоронного органу спеціального призначення», – мовиться у повідомленні.
Як зазначили в МВС, Нацполіція виконує свої обов’язки в рамках чинного законодавства, «реагуючи на заяви громадян про можливу небезпеку поруч з їхнім житлом чи офісом».
«МВС, своєю чергою, рекомендує колегам з СБУ перевірити якість виконання своїми працівниками оперативних завдань із розміщення спеціальної апаратури аудіо-візуального контролю, аби у майбутньому не допустити виявлення та фіксації таких робіт звичайними охоронцями чи іншими уважними спостерігачами просто з вікон сусідньої будівлі. Адже це може бути прямою загрозою національній безпеці держави, захист якої, відповідно до закону, забезпечує Служба безпеки України», – зазначили у міністерстві.

7 березня Зеленський заявив про прослуховування свого офісу як про доведений факт. Відео такого змісту він оприлюднив у Facebook. Політик також розповів заступнику державного секретаря США з політичних питань Девіду Гейлу про порушення в передвиборчої кампанії. «Зеленський нещодавно зіткнувся з тиском — біля його офісу виявили апаратуру для прослуховування, яка належить СБУ», – ідеться в повідомленні «Команди Зеленського» за результатами зустрічі з американським дипломатом.
У свою чергу Служба безпеки України заявила, що повідомлення з боку керівництва МВС України щодо причетності СБУ до прослуховування кандидата у президенти України Володимира Зеленського є «поширенням неправдивої інформації задля дискредитації української спецслужби».
